July 5th

FIREWORKS UPDATE:

Holly Springs staff continue to watch the radar and may start the fireworks at 9 p.m. if weather conditions allow. Event attendees should be mindful of the weather, also. If stormy weather conditions approach, event attendees should seek shelter in their vehicles.

A Second Day for the USA!

Tuesday, July 5, 2022
6 - 9:30 p.m.
Jefferson L. Sugg Farm at Bass Lake Park
2401 Grigsby Avenue
Holly Springs, NC 27540

Fireworks are weather dependent and are subject to a time or date change.

Come out to Sugg Farm at Bass Lake Park on Tuesday, July 5, and enjoy a second day for the USA! This year, a new exit at the southern corner of the park will provide drivers an additional option for leaving the park during and after the event. Event attendees are asked to follow signs and instructions from parking attendants and police officers for safe and swift exiting of the park.

Holly Springs' Independence Day celebration traditionally is on July 5. It begins at 6 p.m. and ends, weather permitting, with fireworks that begin at about 9:15 p.m. Admission is free and open to all.

Enjoy live music from Groove 5 beginning at 6 p.m. and 25 food trucks offering a variety of cuisine: funnel cakes, BBQ, ice cream, hotdogs, and kettle corn, as well as Japanese dumplings, Mexican and Caribbean food, and lots more! Stilt walkers will be among the roving performers.

Bring lawn chairs and a blanket. You can also bring coolers, but no alcohol. Hydration stations are available. Please bring a reusable water bottle or cup. Drones are not allowed. Sparklers and other personal fireworks are prohibited. Fireworks are brought to you by the Town of Holly Springs and Carolina Family Vision.

New Traffic Pattern, Additional Option to Expedite Exiting the Park

3 Ways to Exit the Event Following the Fireworks

July 5 Exit Map

Drivers: New Event Exit, Updates to Parking Areas

With fireworks so popular and everyone ready to leave immediately afterward, the Town has revised parking and traffic flow to make getting in and out of Sugg Farm much easier.

On July 5, the Town will temporarily open an additional exit between the main parking area and the adjacent Parks at Bass Lake subdivision. With this new option, traffic can exit through the subdivision to reach N.C. 55 via Teal Lake Drive.

As in past years, two lanes of traffic also will exit Grigsby Avenue. One lane will continue on Grigsby toward Main Street while the other will turn right on Blooming Meadows Drive to reach Stinson Avenue and Bass Lake Road.

For smoother flow, the Town will restrict parking along Grigsby Avenue and sections of Teal Lake Drive while opening up more parking inside Sugg Farm.

Detailed Information for Drivers

Entering the Event

  • Beginning at 6 p.m. Grigsby Avenue near Sugg Farm will become a one-way street with two lanes of travel entering the park.
    • Drivers wishing to park in the ADA accessible lot should use the left lane. Please make sure your tag is displayed on your rearview mirror prior to entering the park so attendants can direct you to the accessible lot.
    • Drivers dropping off festival-goers and immediately leaving the park should use the left lane. Print this flyer or write “DROP OFF” on a sheet of paper, and display the flyer where parking attendants can easily view it. You will be directed to drive to the end of Grigsby, turn the corner near the event field, and then pause to allow festival goers out of your vehicle. You then will continue on, immediately exiting at the southern corner of the park to reach N.C. 55 via Teal Lake Drive.
  • Drivers wishing to exit the event before the fireworks must use the new exit at the southern corner of the park to reach N.C. 55 via Teal Lake Drive.

Parking

  • All drivers are encouraged to park inside Sugg Farm. A new exit at the southern corner of the park and additional parking attendants will help expedite traffic flow and parking.
  • To improve traffic flow following the event and to provide a safer area for pedestrians, parking will be prohibited in the following locations:
    • Along Grigsby Avenue between the Womble Park baseball fields and Sugg Farm
    • Along Eno Drive (east of Teal Lake Drive) in the Parks at Bass Lake subdivision
    • Along Teal Lake Drive between Eno Drive and Grigsby Avenue on both sides of the street.
    • Along Teal Lake Drive between Eno Drive and the Carl G. Dean Greenway for vehicles facing toward Grigsby Ave.

Exiting

  • *New* An additional way to exit the park is available this year! Drivers can:
    • Exit at the southern corner of the park to reach N.C. 55 via Teal Lake Drive.
    • Two lanes of travel on Grigsby Avenue will exit the park following the fireworks.
      • One lane will continue on Grigsby toward Main Street.
      • The other lane will turn right on Blooming Meadows Drive to reach Stinson Avenue and Bass Lake Road.
  • Drivers wishing to exit the event before the fireworks must use the new exit at the southern corner of the park to reach N.C. 55 via Teal Lake Drive.
  • Womble Park is a recommended location for drivers to pick up festival-goers who were dropped off earlier in the day.
  • Police officers will be directing traffic, and signage will be posted.
