Carolina Springs Plans Advance

Front of Town Hall

The Town Council unanimously approved the master plan and special exception use for Carolina Springs at its June 22 meeting.

The nearly 400-acre mixed use development in northwest Holly Springs will feature a variety of housing options and retail space.  Wake County schools are planning to build an elementary school, and eventually a middle school in the area.

The detailed master plan is the first step in dividing the planned unit development into the proposed development districts as outlined in the PUD land use plan. The master plan establishes the  primary transportation network, utility layout, common landscaping, and tree preservation areas for the entire project. The next step will be detailed development plans for non-residential and multi-family components or preliminary subdivision plans for the residential components of the project.

In other action June 22, the Council appointed Council member Christine Kelly as its primary member on the steering committee for the Unified Development Ordinance rewrite. Council member Shaun McGrath was chosen at alternate member.
