The Town Council approved the master plan for a 200-acre business park off Green Oaks Parkway at its Nov. 3 meeting to position the park for recruitment of life science/manufacturing companies and bring more high-quality jobs to Holly Springs.

The action on Oakview Innovation Park was part of a development agreement that was approved last December with Helix Ventures, LLC.

The approvals expand opportunities for advanced manufacturing and similar uses as the Council seeks to increase the non-residential portion of the Town’s property tax base.

At its Nov. 3 meeting, the Council also approved the purchase of 31 acres for a new Public Service Operations campus. The Council authorized spending about $917,000 from Utility Fund reserves for property south of Green Oaks Parkway and west of the Town’s wastewater treatment plant.

The campus will house the Public Works and Utilities & Infrastructure departments as well as the Town’s heavy machinery and equipment.

In other action Nov. 3, new Finance Director Antwan Morrison was sworn in as the Town’s Finance Officer. Morrison has more than 15 years of experience in government finance, most recently as Assistant Finance Director in Wake Forest.
