The updated plan for the future of Downtown Holly Springs has been approved by the Holly Springs Town Council. Highlights in the plan include an expanded farmers market, a festival street, greenway connections, and an updated Mims Park. The plan also calls for a curated Downtown with a feel that lets residents know they’re in Holly Springs by incorporating public art, a Town square, and other elements.
The updated plan incorporated feedback from hundreds of residents during in-person meetings and more than 2,000 survey responses. An advisory committee for the plan and the Holly Springs Planning Board were especially active in providing feedback and direction during the process to update the plan. Both voted unanimously to recommend approval of the final plan.
Sarah Larson, Holly Springs resident and member of the advisory committee, shared during public comment, “Holly Springs has a very unique character, a rich history, and a bright future. The downtown area plan highlights the areas where the community would like to feel like a community, where we are drawn to the heart of Holly Springs.”
Also included in the plan were steps to guide the implementation of the recommended ideas and strategies. These included action items such as creating a parking strategy for Downtown, updating the plan for Mims Park, rolling out a new Downtown brand, and more.
