Yard Waste Cart FAQs

Fill your cart with lawn clippings, leaves, and other types of yard waste, and place the cart safely at the curb on the same day as recycling collection every other week.

The biweekly cart collection continues throughout the year. During leaf season (November through February), leaves that don’t fit in carts can be placed at the edge of your front yard for collection. Town leaf vacuum trucks will collect leaves left behind the curb during this season on a zone schedule, and biweekly collection of yard waste from carts also continues during this time.

Residents can also take yard waste to the convenience center at no additional charge. Or, residents can arrange for an excessive yard waste collection for a fee.

Benefits of Yard Waste Carts

The benefits of using carts for yard waste collection include:

  • More efficient collection.
  • Safer roadways.
  • Cleaner waterways for healthier habitats for wildlife. Cart collection keeps debris out of storm drains that empty into local creeks, streams, and waterways.
  • Prevents flooding that can occur when yard waste clogs stormwater drains.
  • Less pollen and dust in the spring. The fine particles can’t be contained in vacuum trucks.
